The microbiological, chemical and toxicological Qualities of some imported milk. The aim of the study is to make some microbiological, chemical and toxicological test, of the infantile milk marketed in Algiers. Breastfeeding is considered as the best way for feeding the baby especially during the first months of his life. In case, breastfeeding is not possible, alternative milks are used, which are mainly made from cow's milk. Most parents are unaware that infant formulas milk are not sterile and are sensitive to microbial and non-microbial contaminants (such as lead, cadmium, etc). The microbiological results showed that the quality of the samples tested were satisfactory. The results of the chemical tests revealed a high fat content, moisture and chlorides. The toxicological study revealed as well the contamination of some samples tested by lead with a rate of 0.175 mg / l, while the maximum limit set by the Codex Alimentarius Commission is of the order of 0.02mg / l. However, it was noted the absence of the contamination by cadmium. |
